FUORISALONE 2014: INTERNI PRESENTS THE EXHIBITION EVENT “FEEDING NEW IDEAS FOR THE CITY

The installation is a reflection on the essence of human and planetary nutrition, of which water represents the first element. The figure of Acheloo, in the Greek myth father of all springs and primary river divinity, perfectly interprets this intent: a god with changing features, he is depicted as a bull for the bursting force of the waters, or more often as a snake, alluding to the sinuousness of the bends.
Consistent with Carlo Dal Bianco's language, often inspired by classical heritage, the project is a re-proposition of an icon of the Attic vascular tradition with red figures, reinterpreted in a contemporary key. It recounts the struggle between Heracles and Acheloos for the love of Deianira and captures the moment of the former's victory at the expense of the god of water, from whom one of the horns is torn off. The image is also the most beautiful iconographic allegory of man's effort to dominate water, channelling it with hydraulic engineering works.
The macroscopic composition, consisting of 605 white abs trays, reinterprets the microscopic technique of mosaic tesserae in a new and contemporary transposition.
The work, realised in collaboration with Mosaico+, participates in Interni's exhibition-event “Feeding new ideas for the city” for Fuorisalone 2014.
